International superstars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli made a spectacular return to domestic cricket with centuries for Mumbai and Delhi respectively in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Rohit scored a brilliant 155 off 94 as Mumbai crushed Sikkim by eight wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, while Kohli scored 131 off 101 to help Delhi down Andhra by four wickets in Bengaluru.

Rohit was the first to triple digits, taking 62 balls for his ton. He finished with a strike rate of 165, hitting 18 boundaries and nine sixes, entertaining a sizeable crowd, a rarity in domestic cricket matches. Mumbai chased down a modest target of 237 in 30.3 overs. Captain Shardul Thakur claimed 2/19 early as Mumbai restricted Sikkim to 236/7 in 50 overs.

In Bengaluru, Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar's record of fastest to 16,000 runs in List-A cricket. Sachin needed 391 innings, while Kohli has done it in 330. Kohli hit three sixes and 14 boundaries. Priyansh Arya (74) and Nitish Rana (77) also impressed for the Rishabh Pant-led side that won in the 38th over, chasing a 299-run target.

Prithvi Shaw and Abhishek Sharma were in action in the Maharashtra versus Punjab match at the Anantam Ground in Jaipur. But the two younger batters could not make half centuries, with Sharma falling for 48 off 45 and Shaw dismissed for 46 off 39. Sharma removed Shaw with a catch off his own bowling.

Rohit and Kohli only play the 50-over formats for India, having retired from T20Is and Tests. The duo was recently in fine form during the home series against South Africa.

Rohit followed up his century against Australia in October with two half-centuries (57 and 75) against South Africa. Kohli's performances were even better, with 135, 102 and an unbeaten 65 against the Proteas earlier this month.
