Shafali Verma scored an unbeaten half-century as India crushed Sri Lanka by eight wickets to secure the T20I series 3-0 in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.

Kerala's capital city was hosting its first women's international and an India match after two years. The two sides will play two more T20Is in Thiruvananthapuram on December 28 and 30.

Renuka Singh bagged four wickets, while Deepti Sharma claimed three as India restricted Lanka to 112/7.

Imesha Dulani top-scored with 27 for Sri Lanka, while Hasini Perera made 25. India had little trouble chasing the target as Shafali completed her second fifty in the series.

Shafali smashed 79 off 42, hitting 11 boundaries and three sixes.
