Afghanistan aim to reach final of T20 World Cup under Rashid Khan’s leadership

Ace spinner Rashid Khan will continue to lead Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka, starting February 7. Pacer Naveen-ul-Haq and all-rounder Gulbadin Naib have been recalled to Afghanistan's 15-member squad.
Naveen had been sidelined with a shoulder injury, while Naib was dropped from Afghanistan's tour of Bangladesh in October.
Afghanistan are in the same group as New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and the UAE. They begin against the Kiwis in Chennai on February 8.
Afghanistan reached the semifinals of the 2024 T20 World Cup. "We cherish excellent memories from the past, and hope for even better results this year, which will be played in Asian conditions," Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO Naseeb Khan said.
Afghanistan squad: Rashid Khan (Captain), Ibrahim Zadran (VC), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (WK), Mohammad Ishaq (WK), Sediqullah Atal, Darwish Rasooli, Shahidullah Kamal, Azmatullah Omarzai, Gulbadin Naib, Mohammad Nabi, Noor Ahmad, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen Ul Haq, Fazal Haq Farooqi and Abdullah Ahmadzai.
