KCA lifts 3-year ban on Sreesanth following 'unconditional apology'

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) on Wednesday revoked the three-year ban imposed on former India cricketer S Sreesanth after he tendered an unconditional apology over his remarks against the association.

Sreesanth was handed the three-year ban in April 2025 for allegedly making statements through visual and social media platforms that brought disrepute to the KCA. He had challenged the disciplinary action before the Thiruvananthapuram Munsiff Court, but his petition was dismissed.

Following the court's decision, Sreesanth submitted an official apology to the KCA, expressing regret over his remarks against the association.

The KCA's Special General Body meeting, held on July 1, 2026, discussed his apology in detail and unanimously resolved to revoke the ban, considering his unconditional expression of regret.

However, the association cautioned Sreesanth that any similar conduct in the future would invite strict disciplinary action.

With the ban lifted, Sreesanth will be eligible to continue as the co-owner of the Aries Kollam Sailors franchise in Season 3 of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL). 

Sreesanth said that he was feeling 'grateful' after the ban was lifted. In an Instagram post, he said he can now continue to support Aries Kollam Sailors. 

The KCA had imposed the ban ahead of the previous KCL season following his public remarks against the association.
