IFA Shield: Gokulam Kerala through to semifinals

Kolkata: Gokulam Kerala FC edged out United SC 5-4 on penalties to enter the semifinals of the IFA Shield here on Thursday.

 

Goalkeeper Rakshit Dagar, who pulled off a number of saves for the Malabarians during regulation time, was the hero in the shootout.

 

The teams were tied 2-2 in regulation time. Tanmoy and Davis handed United a two-goal lead inside the first 15 minutes. However, Ronald Singh pulled one back in the first half and captain M S Jithin drew level for Gokulam in the second half.

 

The teams failed to break the deadlock in extra time. Dagar saved a couple of penalties in the shootout to do the star turn.

 

Gokulam will take on Real Kashmir FC in Sunday's semifinal.
