I-League: Mendigutxia's late strikes help Gokulam Kerala down Rajasthan United

New Delhi: A late brace by Sergio Mendigutxia helped two-time defending champions Gokulam Kerala pull off a 2-1 win over Rajasthan United FC in the I-League here on Wednesday.

Kyrgyzstan midfielder Bektur Amangeldiev put Rajasthan United ahead in the ninth minute.

Lalliansanga Renthlei was sent off in the 90th minute and Mendigutxia draw level for Gokulam by converting a penalty.

The Spanish striker netted the winner in the ninth minute of added time.

Gokulam jumped to third place with 27 points from 17 matches, while Rajasthan United stay in 10th spot with 18 points from 17 games.

Gokulam next play Churchill Brothers in an away fixture on Sunday.
