I-League: Namdhari FC pull off upset win over Gokulam Kerala

Ludhiana: Debutants Namdhari FC pulled off a stunning 2-1 win over Gokulam Kerala FC in the I-League here on Thursday.

Harmanpreet Singh handed the home side an early lead in the third minute. Sourav K drew level for the Malabarians in the 83rd minute. However, Akashdeep Singh struck in the seventh minute of added time to secure a famous win for Namdhari. The result ended Gokulam's six-match winning streak. 

Mohammedan Sporting Club rallied to hold Sreenidi Deccan 1-1 in another match to stay top of the table. Colombian striker David Castaneda handed the home side lead in the fourth minute at the Deccan Arena, Hyderabad, but the Kolkata outfit restored parity through Mohammed Jasim in the 84th. 

Mohammedan Sporting have 35 points from 16 matches followed by Sreenidi (33).

Gokulam slipped to third spot with 32 points from 17 matches, while Namdhari are languishing in 11th place in the 13-team league with 15 points from as 16 games.

Gokulam next meet Mohammedan Sporting at Kozhikode on Sunday (7 pm).
