The Indian Super League (ISL) has revised the outcome of the match between Mumbai City and Jamshedpur FC played on March 8 following a complaint that the latter side fielded an ineligible player.

The result of the match has been revised from 1-1 to a 3-0 defeat for Jamshedpur. City had lodged a formal protest with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) citing Jamshedpur FC's failure to field a minimum of seven domestic players at all times during the match.

“Following a thorough review of the said complaint in accordance with the ISL 2023-24 League Rules, the AIFF Disciplinary Committee delivered a verdict in favour of Mumbai City FC on Wednesday.

“Based on this judgment, the AIFF Disciplinary Committee declared the match a forfeiture. Consequently, three points were awarded to Mumbai City FC, altering the scoreline to 3-0 in favour of the Islanders,” said the ISL release.

The revision of the result has helped City extend their lead at the top of the table by two points. City now have 41 points from 19 matches and sit above Mohun Bagan Super Giant. Jamshedpur, meanwhile, have dropped to eighth position with 20 points from 19 matches.
