Shabas Ahammed scored an 80th-minute winner as Kerala Police edged Wayanad United 1-0 in the second semifinal of the Kerala Premier League (KPL) at the EMS Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode on Thursday.

The police team will take on Muthoot FA in the final on Sunday. Muthoot had edged KSEB 1-0 in the first semifinal on Wednesday.

The solitary goal in the second semifinal came from a freekick awarded for a casual handball. Wayanad cleared the ball but only as far as Shabas, who gracefully guided the ball into the top left corner.

The police team will be playing their second final in Kerala's premier men's football league; they finished runners-up to SBT in the 2014-15 season. Muthoot will be making their maiden appearance in the title clash.
