Pep Guardiola's Manchester City have signed Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain. The five-year contract for Donnarumma marks the exit of Premier League winner Ederson to Turkish side Fenerbahce.
Donnarumma, 26, was instrumental in PSG's maiden Champions League triumph earlier this year. However, he fell out of favour with manager Luis Enrique and had been looking for an opportunity elsewhere. According to British media, City paid 30 million pounds ($40.5 million) for Donnarumma.
"Gianluigi's pedigree, quality and record speak for itself, and we are all absolutely thrilled he has joined us here at City," said City's Director of Football Hugo Viana.
"He has accumulated a wealth of top-level experience and knows what is required to achieve success on a sustained level."
Donnarumma's penalty-saving exploits in the Champions League knocked out Liverpool, while he also kept a clean sheet in a 5-0 win over Inter Milan in the final. But Donnarumma failed to repeat his heroics in the Club World Cup final, in which PSG lost 0-3 to Chelsea.
