Substitute D Arun Kumar scored a late winner to give defending champions Calicut FC a 2-1 win over Forca Kochi in the inaugural match of Super League Kerala season-2 at the EMS Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode on Thursday.

Colombian striker Sebastian Rincon put Calicut ahead in the 14th minute through a goal from the penalty spot.

The Kochi side thought they had found a later equaliser when Brazilian forward Douglas Rosa Tardin headed home from a Sangeeth Satheesh cross in the 88th minute.

But just when the opener seemed to be ending in a draw, Arun Kumar slotted home from close range, assisted by skipper K Prasanth.
