The Indian men's football team's position in the FIFA rankings continues to dip with each update. In the latest release on Friday, India were placed 136th, two places below the mid-September update.

India have won only twice in their last nine matches since March this year, the last was in early September in the CAFA Nations Cup playoff against Oman. India won the match in a shootout.

Since then, India drew 1-1 to Singapore away and suffered a heartbreaking 1-2 defeat in the reverse fixture in Margao, which signalled the end of the road for Khalid Jamil's side in the AFC Asian Cup qualification race.

With a win and a draw against India in recent fixtures, Singapore climbed three places to reach 155. Among the neighbouring countries, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka gained in the latest update.
