Tintu Luka to miss Asian Games owing to injury

Tintu Luka, the Olympic star and silver medallist at the 2014 Asian Games, will not participate in the Jakarta Asian Games 2018.
Failing to recover from the plantar fasciitis injury spoiled her plans. Plantar fasciitis, also known as Runner's Heel, is one of the most common injuries among athletes, characterised by a sharp pain in the heel and arch of the foot.
Even though Tintu managed to recuperate well with the help of a physiotherapist, she is not able to stretch fully and run wearing spikes.
“Tintu will not be attending the trials in Thiruvananthapuram and she will not be going to Jakarta,” her coach P T Usha told a leading national daily on Monday.
Tintu, who won a silver in the 2014 Asian Games and a bronze in the 2010 edition in 800 metre, had been staying away from competitions since she was hit by dengue fever during the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar last year.
