Vinesh, Deepak and Lakshay bring cheers to Indian camp

Jakarta: Vinesh Phogat clinched the second gold for India as wrestlers and shooters gave a good account of themselves on the second day of the Asian Games at Jakarta and Palembang on Monday.

Vinesh won the women's 50 kg freestyle gold to add to Bajrang Punia's gold on the opening day. However, Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik, Puja Dhanda and Sumit Kumar lost in the bronze-medal play-offs as India's hopes of picking up more medals from wrestling took a hit.

Deepak Kumar and teenager Lakshay Sheoran gunned down silver medals in 10m air rifle and trap events respectively. Hot favourites Indian men suffered a shock 23-24 loss to South Korea in kabaddi, while the badminton teams exited in quarterfinals. Defending champions India began their campain in men's hockey with a thumping 17-0 win over hosts Indonesia.

4x200m relay final: India, 7:37.07, finished seventh

57 kg: bronze-medal play-off: Pooja Dhanda lost to Katsuki Sakagami 1-6.
