Jakarta: India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra rated his gold-medal winning effort in Asian Games as his biggest achievement till date.

“There has been the World Under-20 title, Commonwealth Games gold and the Asian Championships triumph. But I will rate this as my biggest medal so far. Only the World Championships and Olympic medals are bigger for me,” a delighted Neeraj told the media here on Monday.

Neeraj clinched the gold with a national record of 88.06m at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.

Neeraj pointed out the role German coach Uwe Hohn has played in his success.

“The coach has worked on my strength training. There has been an improvement of 15-20 per cent. There has not been much change technically,” the 20-year-old said.

Neeraj, who will be leaving for Zurich on Tuesday to compete in the Diamond League finals, was delighted that he could break the national record en route to the gold.

“I am really happy I could break the national record. I hope to do my best in Zurich too,” added Neeraj.
