Jakarta: India were assured of at least two bronze medals after Vikas Krishan and Amit Panghal entered the semifinals of the Asian Games boxing competition here on Wednesday.

However, it was curtains for Sarjubala Devi as she was outclassed 0-5 by China's Chang Yuan in the women's flyweight (51kg) quarterfinals.

India’s big medal hope Vikas edged out Chinese Tuoheta Erbieke Tanglatihan in the middleweight (75 kg) quarterfinals.

Vikas got hit just above his left eye in the opening round. But he fought it out to score a 3-2 win on points.

Earlier, Amit beat North Korea’s Kim Jang Ryong by points (5-0) in the light flyweight (49 kg) quarterfinal bout.

Amit, who won a silver medal at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, will take on the Philippines’ Carlo Paalam in the semifinals on Friday.
