National Games: Kerala women win basketball gold

Margao: Kerala women hoopsters won the gold at the National Games here on Saturday. Kerala edged out Karnataka 57-54 in the final.

Sreekala, who scored 29 points, was the star performer for Kerala. Sanjana Ramesh was the top scorer for Karnataka with 21 points.

Tamil Nadu beat Uttar Pradesh 93-56 to clinch the bronze.

Punjab defeated Tamil Nadu 105-103 in extra time to emerge champions in the men's section.

Amjyot Singh starred for Punjab with 42 points.

Delhi defeated Services 93-56 to win the bronze.

Results: (finals): Women: Kerala 57 (Sreekala 29) bt Karnataka 54 (Sanjana Ramesh 21, Sruthi Aravind 10).

Men: Punjab 105 (Amjyot Singh 42, Kanwar Gurbaz Sandhu 19, Shaj Pratap Sekhon17, Amritpal Singh 12, Gurwinder Singh 11) bt Tamil Nadu 103 (Soorya B 28, Aravind Kumar 24, Pranav Prince 17, Lokheswaran 12).
