Changanassery: Christ College Irinjalakuda and Sacred Heart (SH) College Chalakudy bagged the Fr PC Mathew Trophy in the men's and women's categories respectively, in the Inter-collegiate basketball tournament held here on Monday.

In the tournament held at SB College Floodlit Stadium, SH College defeated Alphonsa College Pala with a score of 64-49 in the women's final. Aleena Jaison of SH was the top scorer with 20 points.

The men's matches were played on a league basis, and the team with the most points emerged as champions. Christ College clinched the title winning all their matches. They defeated Mar Ivanios College Thiruvananthapuram (70-61), Sahrdaya College Chalkudy (66-50) and SB College Changanassery (61-58). SB College became the runners-up with a better overall point ratio after they shared the same points with Mar Ivanios and Sahrudaya.

Shibin A Shoji of Christ and Aleena Jaison were selected as the best players in the men's and women's categories, respectively. Joel Mathew was adjudged the promising player award.

Scores: Women's final- Sacred Heart College Chalakudy 64 (Aleena Jaison 20, Annmariya PJ 15, Liya Sony 10) defeated Alphonsa College Pala 49 ( Sreelakshmi C 15, Shalabha T P 12, Eldina Ann Joseph 11).

Men's matches- Christ College (Jipson Reji 18, Shibin A Shaji 10) beat S B College Changnacherry 58 (Charley VS 16, Noyal Jose 12); Christ College 70 (Emmanuel T Shaibu 24, Shibin A Shaji 19, Solomon Thomas 11) beat Mar Ivanios Trivandrum 61 (Athul Augustine 16, Muhammed Iswan Khader 13)
