Kerala girl Divi Bijesh clinched gold and silver medals in the FIDE World Cadet & Youth Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships at Rhodes in Greece.

The 10-year-old from Thiruvananthapuram won gold in the Under-10 girls' rapid event and claimed silver in the blitz event in the same category.

In the rapid event, Divi finished first with an incredible 10 points from 11 rounds, comprising nine wins and two draws. She finished a full point ahead of second-placed Daria Kravchuk of Ukraine.

In the blitz event, she finished just 0.5 points behind Vietnam's Tran Hoang Bao An (9.5). Divi was just as impressive in blitz, with only one defeat, which came in the fourth round against Romanian Eliza-loana Badescu. She scored eight wins and two draws in her remaining rounds.

She is the youngest child of Thiruvananthapuram couple Bijesh and Prabha. In January this year, she obtained the title of Woman Candidate Master from FIDE, becoming the youngest girl from Kerala to achieve it.
