Kerala's Adina Mariam Johnson has been selected to the Indian squad for the FIBA U-16 Women's Asia Cup to be held in Malaysia from September 13 to 15.

Adina from Nedumkunnam is a student of Little Flower HSS, Koratty. Her father, Johnson Thomas, is a coach with the Kerala State Sports Council, and her mother, Anu D Alappat, is the Head of Department of Physical Education at St Mary's College, Thrissur.

Adina is the only Kerala player in the 12-member squad comprising three from Karnataka and two each from Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. Former national captain Anitha Paul Durai is the head coach.

India are in Group A alongside Iran, Samoa and Uzbekistan. The top teams from each group will advance to the semifinals. The champion side will earn promotion to Division A of the FIBA U-16 Women's Asia Cup.
