A week after clinching a Commonwealth title, Kerala's Divi Bijesh was crowned the U-10 girls' champion of the Asian Youth Rapid Chess Championship in Thailand.

In the seven-round event, the Thiruvananthapuram native finished tied on 6 points with Iran's Asma Hasanpor Moghadam and Vietnam's Tran Hoang Bao An.

Divi had lost to top-seed Asma in the final round, but the Iranian had suffered a loss in an earlier round. Divi edged the others by virtue of a better tiebreaker score to finish first.

The 10-year-old had an unbeaten run in the Commonwealth Chess Championship in Kuala Lumpur last week.
