The latest FIDE ratings released on December 1 have a few minor changes in the top-10 bracket, but the World No. 1 position in both open and women's categories has remained unchallenged for more than a decade.

Magnus Carlsen of Norway remains World No 1 in the open category, a position he has held since 2011. In the women's category, Hou Yifan holds the top position. The Chinese GM has been the World No 1 women's player since 2015.

Carlsen's current rating of 2840 places him 30 points clear of second-ranked Hikaru Nakamura of the USA. Fabiano Caruana of the USA is ranked third on 2795 Elo points, followed by Vincent Keymer of Germany on 2776.

Arjun Erigaisi is the top-ranked Indian men's player at World No 5 (2775), while R Praggnanandhaa (2761) is No 7 and World Champion D Gukesh is ranked 10 in the world at 2754.

Five-time World Champion Viswanathan Anand, who does not play regularly nowadays, is still India's No 4 and ranked 12th in the world with a rating of 2743.

The top-ranked Indian in the women's category is Koneru Humpy, who remains World No 5 at 2535 Elo points. Divya Deshmukh is ranked No 12 at 2497.
