Calicut University clinched their maiden gold in men's volleyball at the Khelo India University Games in Rajasthan.

Calicut defeated SRM University, Chennai 3-1 (21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-16). SRM took the first set, but Calicut, led by Sachin Pilla, bounced back in style to emerge champions.

Sports Authority of India's Lijo John was the head coach of the side, with Arjun S and Jibin as his assistants. Dr Stalin Raphael was the team manager.

The other members of the Calicut University team were Mohammed Faisal, Aswal Shanid, S Sudhir Kumar, Hadi Mansoor, Joyal George, Arshad K S, Misab Tanveer, Abdul Jaleel T, Mohammed Fawaz, Aadith K V, Srijith R, Akshay K R and Rahul Kumar.

The players represented five different colleges, such as Government College of Physical Education, Calicut, Christ College, Irinjalakuda, Holy Grace Academy, Mala, Sree Narayana Guru College, Chelannur and St Joseph's College, Devagiri.

Calicut University secured 15 medals from the Khelo India Games, including two gold, five silver and eight bronze.
