Defending champions Thrissur and Kozhikode entered the quarterfinals of the 42nd Kerala State Youth Basketball Championship at Kanhangad in Kasaragod on Thursday.

In a boys' league game, holders Thrissur drubbed Idukki, 70-23, while reigning girls' champions Kozhikode crushed the hosts Kasaragod, 72-14.

The other quarterfinalists in the girls’ category are Kannur, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kollam, Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram.

In the boys’ category, Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kollam and Kannur have joined Thrissur in the last eight. The two vacant slots will be filled after the remaining league matches on the third day.
