Top seeds Vishnu Vardhan and Pooja Ingale advanced to the semifinals of the Naushad Mather Memorial National Ranking Tennis Tournament in Kochi on Thursday.

Telangana's Vardhan dropped a set but sealed the decider against Abhinav Sanjeev of Tamil Nadu (6-1, 6-7(2), 6-2) in the quarterfinals. Parth Agarwal, Kabir Hans and Nithin Kumar Sinha are the other semifinalists in the men's singles category.

Women's top seed Pooja Ingale defeated Tamil Nadu's Ananya S R, 6-3, 7-6(5) to progress to the last-four; she also advanced to the doubles final. Fellow Maharashtrian Sonal Patil defeated teammate Ishwari Anand Matare, 6-1, 6-4 in her quarterfinal. Telangana duo of Sanjana Sirimala and Laxmi Sri Dandu are the other semifinalists in women's singles.
