The project, to be implemented jointly with Kerala State Financial Enterprises (KSFE), will provide interest-free loans to homemakers for purchasing home appliances.
Around 64,000 people had applied for the laptop in the scheme, which was approved by the cabinet in June 2020.
The aim is to ensure home appliances in every household. Women could pay for the appliances in instalments over a period of few years.
A total of 200 laptops were distributed on Friday, the inaugural day.
