The acquittal comes seven years after Singh and three others were convicted in 2019 for the journalist's killing.
Singh had come out of prison 14 times since his conviction in 2017.
Ram Rahim Singh would remain in jail as he is serving sentence for raping two of his women followers, for which he was convicted by a Panchkula court in August last year.
The 51-year-old is currently lodged at Sunaria jail in Rohtak after being convicted in two rape cases and murder of a journalist.
The Dera Sacha Sauda chief and the three others convicted last Friday in the case appeared before the court through video conferencing.
The sentence will be pronounced on January 17.
