That urge to travel can be sparked by so many things - books, casual conversations, the internet, checking #travel hashtags on social media, and the movies of course. Award functions like the Oscars could be inspiring too, especially, if you have your mind set on traveling abroad. Here are five places, which you could travel during your foreign vacations - inspired of course by Oscar nominated movies. **The Revenant, Canada** A huge majority of the movie - about 93 percent of it - was shot in the open air and under natural light. Most of the scenes were shot in Alberta, Canada, even though the weather forced portions of the movie to be canned at Tierra del Fuego, Ushuaia, Argentina and Kootenai Falls near Libby, Montana, US. Bow Valley Wildland Park, Fortress Mountain and Kananaskis Country in the Canadian Rockies with its large number of parks and reserves was the preferred choice. **Reaching Alberta, Canada** Situated in the western province, Alberta is bounded by the British Columbia to the west and Saskatchewan to the east, the Northwest Territories to the north and Montana, USA to the south. You need a visa to visit Canada. **Wadi Rum, Jordan – The Martian** Wadi Rum in Jordan is Hollywood's answer for Mars. And it was not surprising when Ridley Scott, who had previously filmed Prometheus picked the desert near Petra for The Martian. Known as the Valley of the moon, this protected area is as close to Mars as you can get. _Red Planet_, _Mission to Mars_ and _The Last Days on Mars_ were also shot here. However, it was 1962 David Lean's _Lawrence of Arabia_ that put Wadi Rum on the tourist map. Bollywood too has gone to Wadi Rum with _Krrish 3_. The song sequence _Dil Tu Hi Bataa_ with Hrithik Roshan and Kangna Ranaut was shot here. **Reaching Wadi Rum** Wadi Rum is about 114kms away from Petra and about 327kms away from Amman, the capital of Jordan. Jordan issues visa on arrival for Indian tourist for a period of two weeks. The bridge was a point of exchange of secret agents and is called the Bridge of Spies, after which the movie is named. Poland and parts of Brooklyn formed the other shooting locations. **Reaching Glienicke Bridge** Is about 30kms away from Berlin. Visas needed for Indian travelers. **Namib Desert, Namibia – Mad Max: Fury Road** The first three installments of Mad Max movies were shot in Australia and initially Broken Hill in New South Wales was to be the location. However, they had to shift the location to Namibia because of the unusual high amount of rainfall in the area. The crimson sands of Namib stands in for post apocalyptic Australia on the screen. Tour operators, they say are gearing up to see a rise in movie based tourism to this desert now. **Reaching Namib Desert** Namib desert is about 282 kms away from Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. Visa needed. **Nyhavn District, Copenhagen – The Danish Girl** Nyhavn with its classy restaurants and old houses is one of the main shooting locations for The Danish Girl. Nyhavn is home to Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener and it is here that many scenes of The Danish Girl was shot. **Reaching Nyhavn** Near-by railway stations include Copenhagen Central Station and Noerreport Station. Buses are available from Copenhagen Central to Nyhavn Harbour.
