Actress and model Gilu Joseph loves travelling. It is trekking at the hills and forests in Kerala that thrills her most and Giju prefers to stay in tents, in lap of nature during such trips. Recently, the actress went on a trek to Wayanad, where she climbed the hills wearing a saree!

Most people prefer to wear comfortable clothes during treks which involve strenuous physical activity and adventure. However, Gilu often chooses a saree during such outings. "Whenever I set out on a trip, I pack a saree, too. Sometimes I may not use it at all and friends ask me why I make my bag heavier with it. However, I don't feel a saree is heavy at all. In fact, it is the most comfortable dress," says Gilu.

The actress's journeys have mostly been solo and the Wayanad trip also was no exception. She travelled to Wayanad on invitation of some friends, who joined her later.

During the trip, Gilu visited Amabalavayal, Meppadi, and Thollayiramkandy, among other places. She has posted a photo of her standing on top of a hill wearing a saree at Ambalavayal on Facebook. "Somebody looking at the picture may feel that climbing hills in a saree is a tough task. But I was totally at ease," reveals the celebrity.

Wayanad is a popular tourism destination but most travellers give Thollayiramkandy a miss. "It is a magical place. The trek through the thick forest is exciting as there are several waterfalls and streams along the path. Though a private property, Thollayiramkandy is one of the most beautiful spots in Wayanad," says Gilu.
