Saniya Iyappan is second to none among the new crop of actors when it comes to hitting the road. Saniya's previous travel posts had all gone viral. And now the actress has shared photos from her latest trip to the abode of clouds, Meghalaya. An Instagram upload shows Saniya, clad in a scarlet coat and jeans, posing in front of a waterfall in Meghalaya.
Though accessible all year round, Meghalaya is best visited during October to June. Tourists, including celebrities, flock to the north-eastern state at this time of the year. Travel buffs from southern states especially view Meghalaya as a good option to escape from the summer heat.
Exotic Meghalaya
Meghalaya is the most accessible of the seven north-eastern states known as 'the seven sisters'.
Meghalaya abounds in lush rainforests, bridges of living roots unique to this region, waterfalls, mountainous landscapes, deep natural caves, crystal clear rivers and beautiful blue lakes. It is not only the exotic natural scenery, but also the humility and hospitality of the local people that greet the visitors in Meghalaya.
All the major tourist spots of Meghalaya are situated quite close to each other. A two-hour drive is all that separates one spot from another. At many of these places, one can indulge in adventure sports such as cliff jumping, caving, trekking and rappelling.
Shillong, Mawsynram, Cherrapunji, Tura, Nongpoh and Jowai are the major tourist centres in Meghalaya.
