The star-studded Nayanthara-Vignesh Shivan wedding was the talk of social media last week with photographs of the spectacular affair doing the rounds. The couple got hitched at Tamil Nadu's temple city Mahabalipuram recently in a ceremony that followed the Hindu customs. Soon after, the groom shared some breathtakingly beautiful pictures from the stunning ceremony on his official social media handles, sending their fans and the media into a frenzy. The striking destination where the spectacular ceremony was held also found many admirers simply due to its beauty and charm.
The wedding was held at the Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort & Spa, a branch of Marriot International.
Vignesh had earlier said the duo had planned to get married at Tirupati temple, but changed the venue to the Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort & Spa as the former could not accommodate 150 guests.
According to reports, the entire resort was booked for a week for the grand function. Shah Rukh Khan, Rajinikanth, Mani Ratnam, Sarathkumar, Vijay Sethupathi, Radhika Sarath Kumar, Ajith, Surya, Vijay, Karthi, Vijay Sethupathi, Arya, Dileep, and Boney Kapoor were among the celebrities who came to Mahabalipuram to attend the wedding. As part of the wedding celebrations, 18,000 children from orphanages in Tamil Nadu were offered sadya.
The resort, two hours away from Chennai, is equipped with large swimming pools, gardens, sit-outs, and fountains. The guests have also access to a private beach at the resort. The resort is close to the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust.
The resort has two places to dine in – The Reef that serves freshly prepared international cuisine and C Salt that delivers lip-smacking seafood. While eating at The Reef, choose from their buffet or a la carte options as you enjoy the stunning views of the beach and the Bay of Bengal. At C Salt, you can relish dishes made of fresh catch, scrumptious grills and coastal cuisine of south India.
Besides them, the resort has a lunge bar named Pintail Lounge which offers great ambience along with a wide range of drinks. Other facilities include a shine spa, Sheraton Fitness studio, Kids club, recreation lounge, and infinity pool.
All rooms have balconies. Guests can try beach cycling, yoga, zumba, body zorbing, ground zorbing, archery, table tennis, pool and wall-mounted chess.
The nearest airport is the Chennai International Airport, about 40 km from the Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort and Spa.
