Mohanlal and Suchitra enjoy Japan's cherry blossoms

An avid travel buff, Malayalam actor Mohanlal is one of those celebs who inspire us time and again to spend our time and money on quality travel experiences. His son and actor Pranav too is no different.

Recently, Mohanlal shared a photo in which he can be seen posing in front of cherry blossom trees at Hiroshima Park at Aomori, Japan.

The actor captioned the photo with a quote of Japanese poet Kobayashi Issa, which goes, 'What a strange thing to b e alive beneath cherry blossoms.' Interestingly, in one of the recent episodes of Bigg Boss Malayalam, hosted by the actor, he had revealed he will be travelling to Japan. He even asked the participants of the show about their knowledge of the language.

800 varieties of cherry blossoms! 
For the uninitiated, cherry blossoms aka sakura is a flower grown on an ornamental cherry tree that's considered a national obsession in Japan.

Different varieties of this plant blossom at various stages during the months of March and April in Japan, and tourists flock to Japan to see it. Apparently, there are around 800 varieties of this plant in Japan and the right way to enjoy them is to attend cherry blossom festivals held across the country, following a centuries-old custom called 'hanami. Mount Yoshinoyama of Japan is often termed the best spot to check out the blossom.
