Moreover, French cuisine is world-famous for its delectable delicacies and incredible sweet treats. These are the ten spots that shouldn’t be missed if you are in Paris.
Eiffel Tower
Nothing is as dreamy as the Eiffel Tower when it sparkles at night. Remember the scene from the Kangana Ranaut-starrer 'Queen,' in which she admires the tower at night, with a friend? Visitors could also enjoy the majestic panoramic view of Paris from atop the iconic tower. The tower sparkles with illuminations every hour after 10 pm.
Dinner cruise on the Seine River
Visitors could board a boat and glide along the Seine River, past major landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Notre–Dame Cathedral and Louvre Museum under the sparkling night sky. These embellished boats serve some of the best French wines. Here, you could enjoy a cosy romantic dinner accompanied by soothing music and splendid night views of the city.
I Love You Wall
The ‘Le mur des je t’aime’ of the I Love You wall is a hidden gem in Montmartre, Paris. A popular destination for lovers and romantics from around the globe, this wall features ‘I Love You’ written in about 250 languages. There is no other place than the Le mur des je t’aime to proclaim your love to your beloved. Millions of people come here every year to experience the enchanting power of love.
Sacre – Coeur Basilica, Montmartre
Crafted in pristine alabaster stone, this beautiful basilica is located on the summit of a hill in Montmartre. The grand view of Paris could be enjoyed from here. Watching the sunrise or sunset with your partner from this hill would be an unforgettable experience. Interestingly, the basilica is located atop the second-highest spot in the city.
Tuileries Garden
A classic French garden situated between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde, the Tuileries Garden is the perfect spot to enjoy tranquillity away from the bustle of the city. Visitors can sip hot coffee or enjoy a bite of French delicacies while sitting on the comfortable benches here.
Pont des Arts Bridge
One of the most iconic bridges in Paris, this pedestrian-only bridge across the Seine, connecting the Louvre Museum and Île de la Cité, is a pilgrimage centre for lovers from across the world. Couples used to attach padlocks to the railings of the bridge and throw the key into the Seine as a symbol of eternal love. The city officials permanently removed the locks and installed metal–glass panels because the weight of the locks caused parts of the bridge to collapse. However, the Pont des Arts bridge still retains its charm as one of the most romantic spots in the city.
Louvre Museum
The museum has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons, thanks to the recent heist. But, many feel that a trip to Paris is incomplete without visiting the iconic Louvre Museum, which houses Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘Monalisa’ painting. Besides, the visitors could also see the famous Hellenistic sculptures like the Venus de Milo and the Winged Victory of Samothrace. The world-famous museum is situated on the right bank of the Seine River. The Louvre is also the largest and most visited museum in the world.
Cafes in the Latin Quarter
The Latin Quarter is one of the oldest and historically significant places in Paris. This is also a primary cultural site, as many prominent institutions like the Sorbonne University are located here. Meanwhile, the quintessential Parisian cafes are the highlights of the Latin Quarter. Famous cafes like Café de Fleur and Les deux Magots have been the favourite spots of artists, thinkers and writers for centuries. It is indeed a unique feeling to sip hot coffee in these cafes while enjoying the vibrant colours of Paris.
Palace of Versailles Garden
Touted as one of the iconic landscapes in the world, the Versailles Gardens are a symbol of the majestic French regal aesthetics. A little out of Paris city, this garden is a fabulous spot for lovers to spend time in each other’s company. Long walkways, perfectly trimmed plants, splendid fountains, serene canals and mind-blowing statues are some of the attractive features here.
Passage des Panoramas
This covered market street with a glass roof dates back to the nineteenth century. Old kiosks that are straight out of postcards, antique stores, shops that sell old stamps and eateries that serve authentic French cuisine are some of the highlights here. This street, known for its classy boutiques and fabulous atmosphere, is the perfect spot to enjoy a calming walk with your loved one.
