A serene and beautiful seashore! I think this would be the most fitting definition for Dharmadom beach. And there is something for everyone – both young and old to enjoy and celebrate on this beach. The tourism facility center here has in store a bunch of facilities that will entertain those who come here to spend the evenings.

To see, to enjoy

There is a rain shelter here. You can stand in this beautiful building, watch the rain play over the land and the sea – and not get wet.

Every year during the Christmas – New Year season, Darmadom Fest which lasts for days, is held at this beach.

Children can have a nice time here with various kinds of rides, slides, and swings that remind you of a full-fledged park.

Explore the beach

When you step down from the park, you can see a stretch of loose sea sand. But, as you get closer to the sea, you can see the soil getting harder. The hard sand in this beach resembles that of the Muzhappilangad beach, the only drive-in beach in Kerala. In the evenings, children play cricket on this beach.

Another attraction here is a tiny islet surrounded by the sea. One can easily walk down to this islet from the shore during low tides. A dilapidated house and a grove of trees grown here imply that this islet was once inhabited. If you go into this islet without knowing the unpredictable nature of the sea, you are in the danger of getting stuck there. There are instances of some tourists who ventured into the islet while low tide, were later put to danger by the rising waters. Although many development programs are declared, they are still on papers. The scarcity of security guards is also another flaw to fixed.

Tips

If you wish to go into the islet, take along with you some sensible neighbors who are well aware of the time of low tide and high tide. The spot assigned to set out for the islet is different from all other places here. When you stand at this place strewn with hefty rocks, you will feel as if the islet is beckoning you like an enchantress.

How to reach

To reach Dharmadom beach, you have to travel 6 kilometers through Thalasserry – Kannur route. Muzhappilangad beach is just 7 kilometers from here.
