So you have had your sumptuous biriyani and washed it down with some refreshing Sulaimani and you are not in a mood to head home yet. You are with your loved ones and want to spend some quality time with them before the sun goes down. These are the four places in Thalassery that you have to check out.

1) Overbury’s Folly

You can perfectly enjoy the beauty of the sea from Overbury’s Folly, which is a part of Thalasserry heritage tourism. E N Overbury, a British judge who held the office in the 1870s, was so fascinated by the beauty of the region that he ardently desired to set up a tourism spot here. Unfortunately, he could not complete his dream project. The current tourism destination is constructed to honor his memory. An open air theater is set here with seats to sit and watch the programs. This sea side park, which offers an amazing view of the sea, also consists of children’s rides and a cafeteria.

2) Sea View Park

Sea View Park offers a closer view of the raging sea. One of the major attractions of this park is the sight of the fierce waves dashing hard against the sea walls and exploding. There is also a park for children to play.

3) Centenary Park

Situated near Sea View Park, Centenary Park is an ideal place to sit and relax. The sea breeze caresses you as you watch the sun go down.  There are also facilities for children to play. Unfortunately, this place is not properly maintained and you will find it invaded by weeds and overgrown plants. A little more care would have made it a happening tourist spot.

4) Sea Bridge

Once upon a time, Thalasserry was the commercial center of the British East India Company.  Spices were the main export, and then some more. This Sea Bridge was built by the British with the purpose of exporting pepper and coffee to various countries. It was constructed between 1915 and 1922. However, by 1972, the transportation of goods through the sea bridge was completely stopped. Even though no serious efforts are made for the maintenance of this historically significant spot, many people throng here every day. You can enjoy the sea breeze from the bridge that is actually a few yards into the sea. Or else you can saunter through the shore in the breeze that carries with it droplets from the frolicking waves.

Thalasserry Fort, which is in the heart of the city, is also a nice place to spend your leisure time. Dharmadom Beach is just 6 kilometers from Thalasserry en route to Kannur. 7 kilometers drive from Thalasserry will take you to Muzhupilangad Beach, the only Drive in the beach in Kerala.
