The heritage building of the Model School, built by the British, still exudes an old world charm though the recent renovations have marred its unique look. The building where the head post office functions is adjacent to the Model School, and this structure too is noted for its mesmerizing architecture. As no one is interested to write letters as in the olden times, the post office is on the way to its transition to banking. The red ATM machine installed in front of the post office stands as a symbol of this epic transition.
The era of letters
Writing letters and sending it through post was one of the major means of communication in the past. The postal officials who were assigned to deliver these letters were called 'anjalottakar.' They carried a cane with a bell attached on it to announce their arrival.
As per a report submitted by the post master, in 1844, to the collector, 5 'anjalottakar' were appointed between Kozhikode and Ponnani. Seven were assigned to deliver posts to Thalassery, 8 to Edakkal and 1 to Feroke. These anjolottakkar, or postmen in modern diction, used to walk for kilometers just to hand over letters to the addressee.
Berry Bomb

Pepper and peanut treats
Chilli cheese fries makes an amazing entrée while beef spaghetti with pepper sauce and peanut butter apple smoothie would be fitting accompaniments. The French fries drenched in melted cheese is the perfect dish for someone who loves crispy French fries and cheese. The chili flakes sprinkled as garnish adds a punch to the dish.
The spaghetti tossed in pepper sauce is not over spicy. The beef bits are perfectly cooked and have soaked up all the flavours from the sauce, and the spaghetti is al dente.
The flavour of peanut is quite evident in the smoothie, in which the freshness of apples and chilled milk adds a perfect medley of deliciousness.
