Beaches, canals, lakes and the snake boat races - Alappuzha is home to all these and then some more. The paddy cultivation in Kuttanad, the house boats, reminders of old forgotten religions and relics. It is one of those districts which boasts of a long coastline. Beaches are many. Lakes and backwaters too. We travel to from nearby Kottayam one fine morning to Alappuzha. A trip that will take you past Arthunkal Church on to the Thaickal beach, which is still not on the tourist map. Head out to Kuttanad, see the Karumadikuttan and then go down to the cultural capital of old Travancore - Mavelikkara. Come, take a trip with us.
