Holy week travel: Head to Malayattoor church for a 24/7 pilgrimage experience

Malayatoor: Brimming with pilgrims and their prayerful chants, the hill shrine at Malayattoor has a spiritual aura this lent season. The special rituals are held at the church downhill (Adivaram Church) too on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter. The pedilavium aka washing feet ceremony will be held at the Adivaram church at 4 pm, followed by an adoration and breaking the bread ceremonies from 7 pm to 8 pm. There will also be a full day adoration at the 'Kurisumudi' aka the hill shrine. From 5 pm to 6 pm, a special adoration will also be held.

The ceremonies of other days are as follows:
Good Friday (March 29)
5.30 am - Adoration at Adivaram church
6.30 am – Adoration at Kurisumudi and Adivaram church
7 am    - Good Friday rituals at Kurisumudi

Pilgrims can climb the Holy Hill for twenty-four hours. The authorities have also made all the arrangements for the pilgrimage including medical service and drinking water. Devotees who inform in advance can also stay at the Pilgrim Center near the church at Adivaram. The holy season celebrations and rituals will be held till April 30.
