Kerala's monsoon hotspots are slowly coming alive as the season has started, occasionally refreshing us with breezy showers and winds. 'Niagara' of Kerala
Athirappilly waterfalls are the 'Niagara' of Kerala. It has a ferocious form during the monsoon. Athirappilly waterfalls, over 80 feet high, are the tallest in Kerala. They are located on the Chalakudy River, which originates in the Western Ghats. This waterfall is in Athirappilly Panchayat, Chalakudy Taluk, Thrissur district.

Many tourists from within and outside Kerala arrive here every year. You can enjoy this waterfall by entering the gateway of the Sholayar forest region. Vazhachal waterfall is located about five kilometres from Athirappilly waterfalls. Charpa waterfall is also nearby. Bahubali Falls
In the renowned film Bahubali: The Beginning, the story's locations are centred around the waterfall. The premises also depict the childhood and youth of the main character, Siva. He is shown repeatedly attempting to climb to the top of the massive cliff from which the waterfall originates.

How to reach
The waterfalls, located in the Thrissur district, are just about 60 km from Ernakulam. Take Angamaly-Karukuttty-Chalakudy-Anamala Road to reach Athirappally. Its nearest railway station is the Chalakudy Railway Station, which is about 30 km from the falls.
