Kumbhavurutty falls in Kerala's Kollam reopens for visitors: Warnings, entry fees

Tourists can now relish the raw beauty of the enchanting Kumbhavurutty waterfall, which is one of the prominent spots on the tourism map of Kollam district. Earlier, the nearby waterfalls, such as Manalar and Palaruvi near Aryankavu, were reopened to visitors. At present, tourist footfall is not encouraging, as the water flow at the falls is quite low. The number of visitors to the Kumbhavurutty falls has been capped at 100 per hour. 

Trained guides, civil defence members, and ambulance service personnel are available to benefit travellers. It may be noted that tourists have to trek through dense forest from the Chenkotta-Achankovil road to reach the breathtaking waterfalls. The cascade, which falls from a height of 250ft, is a confluence of the Achankovil River and brooks, and a treat for the eyes. The forest department has issued a warning to the visitors to be careful, as the region is riddled with slippery rocks and strong undercurrents. The tickets to visit the waterfall can be reserved online, and the entry fee is ₹60 for adults and ₹30 for children.
