Every year the March 3 is observed as World Wildlife Day.  This year, it is being celebrated under the theme “listen to the young voices.” Given that almost one-quarter of the world’s population is aged between 10 and 24, vigorous efforts need to be made to encourage young people, as the future leaders and decision makers of the world, to act at both local and global levels to protect endangered wildlife. And these are some of the places where you can take your kids to get them acquainted with the animals in the wild this summer.

Ranthambore National Park, Rajasthan

A trip to Ranthambore National Park, Rajasthan, sprawling over 1,334 square kilometers will be an experience in itself. And do not expect to see the star attractions in the park - the tigers at the first trip itself. The other inhabitants of the forest include sloth bears, wild boars, spotted deer, monkeys, and sambar to name a few.

Jim Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand

One of the most popular wildlife parks, Jim Corbett is home to tigers, elephants, serows, gorals and the Himalayan tahr. It was here that Project Tiger was launched in 1973. Spanning over 520 km, this reserve is home to otters, endemic fish eating crocodile. The park has a demarcated tourist zone and custom-made safaris. And perhaps, this is the best place to introduce your little ones to the wildlife.
