Explore Komic and Hikkim

Komic at an altitude of 4587 m is one of the highest motorable villages in the world. It is about 18 km from Kaza, the capital of Spiti. Before you walk around, give yourself time to get used to the lack of oxygen due to the altitude and the cold chilly wind. Hike around the small hills and slopes. There are many who take a trip to Hikkim, about 9km away from Komic just to post their mail from one of the world's highest post office.

Pin Valley

Established in 1987, the Pin Valley National park is home to the snow leopard and the Siberian Ibex. Medicinal plants and rare flora make a visit to the park an amazing experience.

Camping at Chandratal

Trek up to Chandratal, a crescent-shaped lake and put up your tents in the campsite a little way away. Take in the beauty of the terrain as you walk up and stay the night at the camp

Make a wish

When you are in Spiti, it is but normal to feel close to mother nature and the traditions of the land. As you walk by you will see seven stones stacked one above the other at many places. Do stack seven and make a wish - it is believed that your wish will come true and also bring you good luck along the journey

Reaching Spiti

Start from Shimla and via Kinnaur valley. Halt at Kalpa or Reckong Peo before reaching Spiti. It is slower and will give you time to acclimatize to the altitude. But, if you are in a hurry to reach Spiti, take the road from Manali.

Need to know information

While Indians do not need permits to enter Spiti, foreign nationals and identity owners need special permits due to the region's proximity with Tibet. Permits can be obtained at Reckong Peo and take a couple of hours to be issued.
