Sand, surf, and the sea – beaches are fun and relaxing. On World Oceans Day, we bring you 10 of the unusual beaches you should add to your bucket list. **1) Black beach** Remember the dark sands in the backdrop when SRK romanced Kajol in the song 'Gerua' in the Rohit Shetty blockbuster Dilwale? That song was shot in Vik Beach, in Iceland. The dark sands are a result of the high volcanic activity in the area. **2)The whitest beach** Jervis Bay in Hyams Beach, Australia is a quiet spot - not something you associate with a world record. But, it has an entry in the Guinness Book of Records as the whitest sand in the world. **3) Green beach** Blame it on the volcanic activity again. The Papakolea Green Sand Beach in Hawaii is covered with green sand. **4)Step down to the beach** Scala Dei Turchi in Realmonte, Italy, will remind you a lot about Varkala - but unlike Varkala where the rocks are red, the Scala is formed by a sedimentary rock which is white in color. **5)Beaches in Maldives** During the morning, this beach is like any other. But at nights, they transform. As the waves break, you see a row of blue-green light. It is magical – and due to bio-luminescent plankton that appears in warm coastal waters. **6) Pink sand beach** Coral, broken shell, minute rocks and calcium carbonate lends a pink color to the sands on Harbour Island, Bahamas. **7) Eggs on the beach?** According to local Maori legends, these boulders are the remains of eel baskets, gourd, and sweet potato washed ashore from the wreck of Arai-te-uru, a large sailing canoe. Some other legends say that they are dragon eggs from a bygone era - but there is no denying the fact that you will enjoy seeing these boulders spread out on Koekohe Beach, New Zealand **8) Giant's causeway** One of the most popular tourist attractions in Northern Ireland, the Giant's Causeway is formed by interlocking basalt columns. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. **9) Shell beach** Layers of shells cover the shoreline at Shark Bay in western Australia. **10)Algarve Sea caves** Breathtaking cliffs, golden beaches, and sandy islands make the Algarve a very touristy place. But it is these stunning sea caves that hold your attention.
