Parambikulam – The Island Nest

If you wish to be the owner of an entire island, plan a trip to the Veettikkunnu in Thrissur, under the Forest Department. Book the island where bamboo grows in abundance and you can spend day and night surrounded by a lake. Amazing sights like bathing wild elephants and sunbathing crocodiles are among the attractions.

The island is located in the reservoir of the Parambikulam dam and can be reached in half hour on a row boat. Sandalwood trees grow near the accommodation facility. Guides will take travellers around the island. Some time can be spent in the 'erumadam' (tree house) also.

This is a 'Naalukettu' where Pazhassi Raja is believed to have lived. The Keloth Tharavadu is located at Panamaram in Wayanad. The wooden walls and antique architecture are retained but modern facilities are arranged for tourists. There is a river nearby where a dip is possible. Large groups can also stay here. Long corridors and large compound can host musical evenings also. There is farmland belonging to the 'tharavadu.'

Twin houses of Munnar

The twin log house of the Forest Department at Pambadumchola give an unforgettable stay to travellers. In front is the Bandarmala with shola forest and front of the house is the grassland where wild bison graze. It is pleasantly cold inside and the sounds of the forest can be enjoyed. The twin house is considered the best accommodation provided by the Forest Department in Munnar.

The facility has been recently renamed as Bison Log House.
