Singapore will soon surpass its touristy neighbours Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand to become Asia's top travel destinations, according to travel watchers. With more tourists from India and China exploring Lion City, it achieved 16.5 million visitors, more than 21% of the previous year. As per reports, this marks the highest arrivals since the COVID-19 pandemic. The Singapore Tourism Board said the trend will likely continue, and the country will welcome up to 18.5 million visitors, approaching its pre-pandemic peak tourist number of 19.1 million. While the Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa Island, Orchard Road, Singapore Zoo, Chinatown and more have been the top spots in 'Singa Land' for more than 10 years, it also has some new attractions that bring in tourists. Here are some spots you should add to your next Singapore trip itinerary.
1) VroomTown, a driving city for kids
A recently opened premier indoor driving city specifically for children, it's a must-visit destination for families that want to educate their children on driving etiquette, making it an entertaining experience for them. The little 'drivers' are given basic training in driving and safety before hitting the road. They are also taught traffic rules, given their official photo license and safety tips. They will get a realistic driving experience as the VroomTown also features Singapore's top attractions like the Changi Airport, Merlion and more.
2) Minion Land
A 'minion universe' modelled after the 'Despicable Me' franchise, this section of the Universal Studios in Singapore was opened just this month. It has simulator rides that take kids on thrilling journies and dance parties, an amusement park named 'Super Silly Fun Land', and themed dining and retail options. You can also meet and greet characters like Gru, his daughters and minions, click pictures with them, explore Gru's neighbourhood and more.
3) Museum of Ice Cream
An interactive museum that is dedicated to the history of ice cream, MOIC has many multi-sensory installations that let visitors enjoy the dessert in numerous servings, its cultural influences, understanding its ingredients, preparation process, different scents, colours, textures and more.
