Mililing, a rural village in China's Guangdong, had no prominent presence in the country's tourism map until recently. All that it enjoyed were tourism enthusiasts who wanted to get a taste of traditional Chinese village life and culture. However, of late, this obscure region sees visitors who even take home stones, soil and leaves from the region. For them, it's not another village, but the birthplace of Liang Wenfeng, the founder of the Chinese artificial intelligence AI company DeepkSeek. The 40-year-old was born and raised at Mililing, and the Chinese authorities are even planning on giving the place a facelift, thanks to the newfound tourist interest in the place. The village has just about 700 residents and most of them are into agriculture. However, in the recent holiday season, the region received up to 10,000 tourists almost daily.

These are the places of interest for tourists now in Mililing:
1) Wenfeng's grandfather's four-storeyed house.
2) Mililing is in Guangdong province, which is home to the unique reddish sandstone formations called Mount Danxia, Huangmanzhai waterfalls in Jieyang, and Zhongshan Memorial Park, which is dedicated to China's founding father, Sun Yat-sen.
3) Wuchuan near Mililing also has great coastal landscapes of over 70 kilometres, the Jian River, and clay sculpture art, which is a longstanding tradition in the region.
