Thodupuzha: Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh will soon unveil India’s most extensive cantilever glass skywalk at the Titanic viewpoint in the Kailasgiri hills. The 170-feet-long skywalk will let visitors enjoy the mind-blowing views of the Bay of Bengal. The bridge can hold up to 40 people at a time, as per reports. As part of the project, the spot will also have zip lines and sky-cycling tracks. A while ago, business tycoon Anand Mahindra had shared a video of the skywalk on a rainy day, terming it ‘absolutely stunning.’
He said, “It is already being touted as one of the tallest of its kind in the world.” However, he is not likely to visit the bridge. Mahindra said on his page, “Will it make it to my bucket list? Probably not. Heights and I have a complicated relationship.” The glass bridge in Kolahalamedu, Kerala’s Vagamon in Idukki district, is currently the most extensive cantilever glass skywalk in India. This bridge at the adventure park in Vagamon is 120 feet long. The Vizag skywalk is expected to be inaugurated by September 25.
Bridge built in Kerala
The Vizag skywalk is built by Bharat Mata Ventures, based in Perumbavoor, Kerala. The skywalk at Vagamon was constructed for Rs 3 crore, while the one in Visakhapatnam cost Rs 7 crore. Besides, around 30 tonnes of steel were used to build the glass skywalk in Vagamon, and 40 tonnes of steel were used at Visakhapatnam. Bharat Mata Ventures director Jomy Poonoli said that the skywalk would be opened for the public by the end of this month. Visitors can enter the skywalk from 9 am to 8 pm.
