Anand Mahindra chances upon untouched hill station, says why it has much to offer travellers

A self-proclaimed wanderlust enthusiast, Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra has expressed his love for many yet-to-be-discovered destinations on his social media page, giving them the limelight they deserve. The latest spot to catch his attention is Meghahatuburu in Jharkhand, along the Saranda forest, known best for the presence of the Steel Authority of India Limited's iron ore mines nearby. According to Mahindra, he bumped into them through some photographs posted on the X page 'India Aesthetica.'
Mahindra says the hill station is known as the 'hill of clouds' due to its high altitude, and it offers forest waterfalls, sunset points and largely untouched landscape, though with 'bare-bone tourist infrastructure, very few resorts and many guesthouses.' Meghahatuburu, along with Kiriburu, are twin hills in Jharkhand, separated by the Odisha-Jharkhand border. It is in the West Singhbhum district of the state.
What to see in Meghahatuburu?
Meghahatuburu is often called the 'Cherapunji of Jharkhand' due to its misty climate and high rainfall, especially during the monsoon season. It also experiences dense fog and low-hanging clouds constantly, and is surrounded by thick forests.
Meghahatuburu also has a large sal forest. In fact, according to many platforms, the Saranda Forest area, which houses Meghahatubuu, is one of the largest sal forests in Asia. Sal trea (Shorea rubusta) is used extensively for construction, and the forests that grow these trees are considered major ecological corridors. Many tribes also live here, depending on the forests for their livelihood.
