If the Railway Ministry gives its go ahead, the Andamans will soon get a 240 km train line connecting Port Blair and Diglipur.

The broad-gauge route will considerably bring down travel time between the capital city and Diglipur. An adventure spot, Diglipur is famous for its Ross and Smith islands. This railway line is expected to give a major fillip to the defense, tourism and communication systems in Andamans.

The current 350 km bus service takes over 14 hours, and the ship, 24 hours. The train, on the other hand, will complete a one-way journey in three hours.
