How would you like to take a stroll through a small village that is home to one of the traditional Ayurveda practitioners in the state? Keeping in mind the International appeal that Ayurveda holds, the Ashtavaidyan Thaikkattu Mooss Vaidyaratnam Group of Institutions will soon open a fully equipped 'Ayurveda Village' to the public. This facility is not just a medical centre but holds immense interest for the tourists too. Even if you are not ill, a visit to this village will give you an intimate knowledge of Ayurveda. Situated at Thaikattusery, near Ollur in Thrissur district, the village centres around the Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda Museum which was opened in 2013. The museum houses the traditional 'Nalukettu' and an audio visual theatre. A visitor to the village will first be welcomed to the 'Natyagriha' where they will be introduced to the history and traditional methods of ayurveda treatment. The pictorial representation in the building next door will allow you to have a glimpse of how the treatment techniques have evolved with time. This museum is a treasure trove for ancient texts, books and rare manuscripts. The medicinal herbs garden has an array of rare herbs. The digital library is well equipped and state of the art. The Acharyagriha at the museum is also a memorial of the founder of Vaidyaratnam, Sri. E. T. Neelakantan Mooss. E T Parameswaran Mooss, the present head of the family and the museum director says that his group aims to reach out to the youth. They are going ahead with a 'healthy life through ayurveda' campaign to reach out to the youth. Apart from the unit at Thaikattuserry, they have manufacture medicines at Chuvannamanu and Pollachi. There are two hospitals in Bangalore and one in Mumbai. The museum is also a memorial of the Centenary celebrations of the founder of Vaidyaratnam, Sri. E. T. Neelakantan Mooss, who himself is a living legend of Ayurveda in India.
